The small and large zoo tour

Distance

5 or 7k

Start

Platz des 18. März opposite the Brandenburg Gate

Highlights

Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag, Victory Column, Zoological Garden

The Tiergarten is Berlin's largest park. So even in the height of summer, it never gets really crowded on the numerous meadows and park paths. A colourful mix of jogging tourists and residents as well as amateur footballers and frisbee players meet here. After the sport, you can reward yourself with an apple juice spritzer or beer in the "Café am Neuen See" or in the English Garden. The 5- or 7k route runs partly through the start/finish area of the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON. If this area is already closed, there are small detours around it and back to the route shown.

The 10k loop through the government district and City East offers everything a tourist runner's heart desires. There's a lot going on in summer. Strollers, business people and joggers share the area on the Uferpromenade with the highest density of steamboat moorings in Berlin. In the beer garden of the House of World Cultures ("Pregnant Oyster") you can end the evening directly on the banks of the Spree.

BMW BERLIN-MARATHON: The goldfish pond in Volkspark Wilmersdorf © SCC Events

Through the Volkspark Wilmersdorf

Distance

8k

Start

Schöneberg Town Hall ("Place at golden stag")

Highlights

Schöneberg Town Hall, golden stag, goldfish pond

The 8k loop through the Volkspark Wilmersdorf connects the marathon course marathon route between km 23 and 31. It is slightly hilly and in summer there is plenty to look at. At the goldfish pond right next to the Rathaus Schöneberg underground station, a heron goes hunting, and boules is played passionately on the square at the Goldener Hirschen. The narrow and elongated leads through a densely populated residential area and is known for its high density of joggers. The area around the Fennsee lake is somewhat quieter and more tranquil. Cross the motorway bridge with a view of the radio tower for a short loop around the Wilmersdorf athletics and ice stadiums.
